The Can - Monster Movie [1969] {{Stoner Collection #15}}

===-Stoner Music Collection Entry Number 015-===

Hello. Once again, I bring you the next album in the Stoner collection series...

I'll just keep the following in my posts for now so I don't have to explain over and over..
I can only really say one word: Steroids.
Well, maybe I should make that two or three:
Steroid Reduction Sucks.

I will admit to you all right now.
I have never even heard of Can until last week.
It's always good to discover new music.
If you are the same then it is worth a look here to get a bit of background, then here for more.
The music itself is a good mix of Psychedelic Rock, poetry and some weird chord changes. All backed up with a good solid bass. Very much percussion based too. They are German and you can tell. Hehe.
What do I mean by that statement eh? I wonder.
Actually I just meant there is a flavour of Kraut-Rock in there but not too much (thankfully). I do love some of the screeching guitar though. Very experimental. Your granny wouldn't like it and your girlfriend will probably say 'can you turn it down a bit?' - well mine did anyway!
There are hints of 'The Doors' in there too, as well as maybe 'YES' and Frank Zappa...in fact I start to hear so many reminders of other stuff when listening that I am maybe over analysing instead of listening to it on its own merits.
That's steroid reduction for you. It seems to be a form of madness. Arrgghh.
I heartily recommend you go READ this here band Bio.
Fascinating stuff.
I have to say the version of the old nursery rhyme, Mary Mary Quite Contrary is enlightening! Definitely better than the original that's for sure :)
Not something I could listen to every day but, when I get some weed and it's nice 'n' sunny...
Today then.
Pity about the pain but worse things happen at sea and all that..

Isn't it time ISRAEL were made to go along with the rest of the world's rules?
I fucking detest oppression. Religious or otherwise.

Welcome to the world of Can. One of the main influences in rock music, just as well as Jimi Hendrix, for good or for bad.
A lot of punk/new wave, indie, or post-rock stems directly from the sounds of Can. So much, indeed, that you can ignore those punks and listen only to the Can discography instead. Best kept secret of rock music? Maybe.

Helo and thanks for the comments. Yeah, the more I listen to Can, the more I hear other bands in there...it's so obvious that they took their influences from Can. They are really growing on me.
Oh and thanks for those links, will have a read later.
Illness is still the order of the day for me so can't stop...

Really? a Password?
Are you sure it wasn't a corrupt download?
anyway just in case I DID mistakenly password these then the password I use is: MP3@3pm

If that doesn't open it then you have a corrupt download and should redownload the file.
I stopped using passwords but maybe I wasn't thinking on this one :/

Dear hitmewithit, Anonymous here again.

Prepare for Tago Mago lunacy, enjoy Ege Bamyasi (Aegean Ocra) funk/hip/trip-hop or whatevernot, and Future Days ambient. This is the definite Can trilogy.

Next step for deconstructing these indie/post-rock "originals": Neu!
