Cracked Actor - David Bowie [1974] [DVD Video]

Hooray! A Full DVD!!
Get it now!.

And if I may be so bold as to just hand you over to someone who is obviously much better equipped to deal with such things as reviews...
Or Wikipedia as it's also known

Cracked Actor is a 53-minute-long BBC television documentary film about the pop star David Bowie. It was filmed in 1974. At the time he was a cocaine addict and the documentary has become notorious for showing Bowie's fragile mental state during this period. It was made by Alan Yentob for the BBC's Omnibus documentary strand, and was first shown, on BBC2 in the UK, on January 26, 1975.
The documentary depicts Bowie on tour in Los Angeles, using a mixture of documentary sequences filmed in limousines and hotels, and concert footage. Most of the concert footage was taken from a show at the Los Angeles Universal Amphitheatre on 2 September 1974. There were also excerpts from D.A. Pennebaker's concert film Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, which had been shot at London's Hammersmith Odeon on 3 July 1973, as well as a few other performances from the tour.[1] 'Cracked Actor' is notable for being one of the only sources for footage of Bowie's ambitious Diamond Dogs tour.
The title of the documentary was originally to be The Collector, after a comment that Bowie had made to interviewer Russell Harty the previous year, whereby he described himself as "a collector of accents". Yentob and his team were given the task of documenting Bowie's famous Diamond Dogs tour, which was already underway when they started filming. Locations for the documentary mainly centred around Hollywood and Los Angeles, but there was also concert footage taken from Philadelphia. A number of performances from the tour were shown, including songs such as "Space Oddity", "Cracked Actor", "Sweet Things/Candidate", "Moonage Daydream", "The Width of a Circle", "Aladdin Sane", "Time", "Diamond Dogs" and "John, I'm Only Dancing (Again)".

At present, the documentary remains unreleased officially.

OK now all I should point out is that this is a collectors/Fans DVD and is nicely made with menus and a little extra too.

please re-read the rules at totally fuzzy, NO DVDs, no movies and no videos.
I posted your update this time. Next time if it's not music I'll simply delete it. I don't need any more DMCA hassles or trouble with MPAA or BBC.

Hey Fuzzy crew, I always thought the rules were about officially released video and DVD, not bootlegs but ok no problem.
I'll check it in future!
Thanks for posting this one for me.

Hey there Anonymous, you have such beautiful manners...the way in which you come across is erm, let me think...exquisite!
Even a fucking 'Hello. You missed parts x, x and x' wouldn't have been TOO difficult would it?
Why is it that online people are such selfish moronic twats?
Not that I'm saying you are one anonymous, of course.
The files are being re-uploaded now, ready tomorrow.

I wonder if someone can help me get Season Three to show up on the hosting site. When I access it, it says that MP3@3pm no longer exists.

I was able to get to the files for season one and two though.

Also, how is it you guys are posting 2/11/2001 already?

Ahem, never mind my asking about the 2/whatever business.

It would seem I don't even know which month I'm in anymore.

Hope you are keeping track of the world better than I am.

Thanks again for your time with the Bob Dylan sessions.

Hi there -
Part #29 indicates being damaged or unknown format...won't open.
Could you please repost this part 29??

Thank You,

Blogger hitmewithit said...

Hmm. Well Mikey, I just download that file from BOTH links to test...and it is fine?
I dont understand what you mean when you say it says 'unknown format' why would it say that as its a rar file and if you have winrar you dont need to be trying to open the file 29. You need EVERY part before you even attempt to open anything?!
Download every single part and then you open the lowest numbered file. then you see all the contents inside and press Extract Files button and then you have the files for the DVD :)
If you are saying you get an error when you have done all of the above, and that error is happening when winrar gets to file 29, then it is a corrupt file which must have happened during the download. Ass I just downloaded it and file 29 is OK then I can only it again and delete the one you tried already. then try opening from the part01 file. ONLY when you have all files in the same folder together :)

Hey hitmewithit,
long time gone, since I wrote the comment.Just now I came back...
And:I wanted to ask you:everything alright with you and your fucking disease?
Some time gone since your last upload, right?
And to my latest comment:I didn`t mean to complain,I just wanted to see it relaxed.. just kidding...
But my English ain`t that fine,so:Sorry for the misunderstanding!
I got some nice boots from you,so:Thanks a lot!
And I wish,I would see some new posts in the future again!
Wishing well,

Hey v-chile thank you for youre comment. This fucking disease as you say, is very difficult right now. IMy height is 5'11" and my weight is now lowest so far at 123.8lbs. I am getting thinner every day it seems.
I take a drug called Adalimumab which makes me feel like shit, in many ways. The disease is still not stopping progress so I expect to be in hospital at some time in the future to probably have some more of my intestines removed.
That is the reason for no updates, I have been struggling to deal with living every day, posting about things would be too boring for people looking for music!
Also I have not much energy either. Just living on high calorie supplement drinks and trying to make it to night time to prepare for another shit day!
Did I make it sound fun? Oops :)
Hey I might just do one update and post something soon...
Thanks again for the concern, hope you are doing good!
Oh and sorry for the attitude last time, I misread your comment, or I was just being an ass...

hey, I found your blog while looking for some of the Dylan Theme Time Radio programs.

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing it.

But, uh - I saw at the top of the page something about "Evidently I'm a Shameless Beggar".

I recently started checking out "" - a film news website..
I liked it because the people that write for it are are shamelessly geeky and enthusiastic.. Excitement is infectious and I dig being exposed to it.. didn't take long though to realize that ninety percent of the people commenting on the news articles were just tearing shit down. Kinda sad.

Anyway - I just wanted to say that I really like what you're doing on the blog. Working through your shit but doing something positive too. I recently spent a week not being able to walk after a back injury - all you can really do is stare at the internet. I think it's exceptional and awesome that you do something positive with what you got.

Tis the season to be broke, but as soon as I'm able - it's definitely worth a cup of coffee or two.

Keep it up and hang in there.

Hey Aaron, thanks mate. Glad you are liking some of the non Theme Time Radio show site content!!!
There are many great albums here. Let me know if you see something you cannot locate elsewhere and the links are old and not working here, I will reupload it if I can for you!
I'll definitely check out that site you mention. Cheers :)Oh I am so tired of seeing the same old same old boring twats, like the youtube commenter's, constantly putting people down, insulting them and generally being dicks.
The internet can be the sewers...hehe just try to avoid the worst bit, though safe areas are getting less and less lol.
I almost feel a fraud when I read your last few lines there, I have not been doing this site for months now!
If you browse back through the pages you can read how, as I got more and more ill and in pain, I posted less and less until I kind of abandoned the place. the thing is I always look in when I? go online. I don't even go online much right now.

Big 6-9 hour surgery happening in the new year so my mind, and body, is on that quite a lot of the time. Terrified hehe but it HAS to happen.
After that, when ?I heal, still no guarantee of no illness returning. Still, life is full of risks and gambles. . .
Anyway mate
Take it easy,

Hopefully your surgery was fine and you will be feeling better soon and will be able to do normal stuff with no pain caused by chrone.

Be back soon man, for the good old rock n roll.

Have a nice year.

Hello MarcusBT, thanks for the message. It means a lot :)
I have not had any surgery yet! It will take some time as I need to first have a tube inserted into my stomach (a PEG feeding tube) so that I might stop losing weight. I cannot have surgery if I am too thin as it will be difficult to pull through it and to recover will take longer!
The links on the site are now mostly all dead! Megaupload has gone and taken most of the files...I let rapidshare account go so those files died too...oh dear. A mess.
All the best from South East England to Brazil!
